Talking about autism to people who are not also autistic can be tricky. Sometimes they just don’t want to listen! When pursuing a platonic or romantic relationship, people are expected to know many unspoken rules. People with autism often lack these “social cues” which can make maintaining relationships more difficult. Neurotypical people can pick up the fact that someone is autistic within the first few minutes of meeting them, but they just think the person in question is strange. People with autism tend to feel alienated from others around them. People with autism just don’t want to be accepted by their peers; they want to be respected and loved. Graphic novels help show people a different point of view than what they are used to.
